"Rhapsody in June" è la storia di Yadana Nat Mai, "dea dei nove gioielli"
l'ultima discendente della famiglia reale birmana.
Salita alla ribalta nel 1978 per aver sposato il folle generale Ne Win, dittatore della Birmania per quasi 30 anni, tenta di cambiare le sorti del paese senza successo.
Si rifugia così in Italia e con il nome di June Rose Bellamy comincia una nuova vita, si reinventa come donna e fonda una scuola di cucina che porta il suo nome. La sua biografia, ricca e affascinante, racconta di una donna singolare, segna un pezzo di storia, scopre i tesori e le contraddizioni di un paese lontano, rappresenta un modello di unione tra Oriente e Occidente.
Oggi che la Birmania, ormai Myanmar, si sta aprendo al mondo, lei è ancora un simbolo per il suo popolo in memoria di un tempo passatocancellato dalla dittatura.
